New training facility
MPSA will be moving its 2010 try outs as well as all indoor and some
outdoor training to a new facility. The recently constructed Eastern
Michigan University Indoor Practice Facility is a state of the art dome
with an excellent playing surface. It will allow MPSA teams to train in
the best possible environment.
MPSA will continue to use Concordia Soccer Fields for home games and
some outdoor training.

EMU Indoor Practice Facility please visit

New programs
MPSA will be adding several new programs which will replace MPSA
clinics: MPSA Future Stars Program, Fit for Life Program and Play
Together Program.
MPSA Future Stars Program will offer games and practices for U6 + U7 +
U8 + U9 girls and boys. Registration for MPSA Future Stars Program will
be conducted during try outs. Every effort will be made to offer a spot
for all interested players (within the limits of coaching staff
availability).
The Fit for Life Program will focus on overall strength and fitness
training: endurance, speed, acceleration, agility, coordination, core
strength, nutrition, etc.
The Play Together Program will offer an opportunity for MPSA players and
parents to work on foot-skills and to play small-sided games together.
Time for the kids to teach their parents a few tricks.
New league request
MPSA has requested admission and has been invited to join the Michigan
State Developmental Soccer League (MSDSL). We hope to join this league
in the 2010-2011 soccer year pending MSYSA action.
Once finalized,
MPSA U9 through U12 teams will join. MSDSL offers a
competitive environment while encouraging player and team growth as well
as club unity. It is a great organization for clubs whose focus is on
teaching and development instead of winning and division placement.
Some of the best clubs in the area play in MSDSL.

New structure
Starting in June of 2010 several structural changes will
be implemented to make MPSA operations simpler and more convenient for
MPSA families.
All fees will be paid to MPSA (no more separate checks
for MPSA, coaches, tournaments, uniforms, etc). One all inclusive fee
(paid in 3 installments) will cover all administrative, instructional,
uniform, referee and tournament costs.
All schedules will be announced prior to try outs and
will be set for the entire soccer year (from July 2010 through June of
2011).
There will be more consistency in attendance rules,
goal-setting, scheduling of evaluation meetings, coordination of
training schedules, collection and response to feedback, dissemination
of information, etc.
New uniforms
All MPSA players will get a new game and practice kit each year. The kit
will include 3 jerseys, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of socks. Sample
uniforms for sizing will be available at try outs and at MPSA Kickoff.
Parent testimonial
To: MPSA Soccer Club
I don't really know where to begin but in short, the experience that
Emma and I have had since joining your soccer club has been wonderful. Now
the long version: Emma has often over the last several months volunteered
to me that she is really glad that she joined your club and wants to stay
with your club throughout her high school years. She definitely had big
time reservations when I brought her to your tryouts in the fall and told
her that this would be a good place for her to learn soccer. I can't say
enough about the coaches, and all of the support people, but the thing that
really stands out in this club is the girls. Emma arrived on the scene with
very little soccer experience. The way the girls welcomed her to the club
and supported her throughout has been outstanding. They always support each
other and their sportsmanship towards each other, opponents, coaches and
referees is a fine example for all of us. Its easy to see why she has
enjoyed it so much. I hate to use this now over used phrase in sports, but
you teach the girls to play the game the right way. I am so proud that Emma
is a member of this team.
Thanks for having us.

video of interest, watch the demonstrated skill and then grab your
soccer ball and try it yourself.
The drills are useful for players of all levels and should be repeated
50 times/practice session so they become automatic. Many of the drills
can even be practiced indoors during the winter months.
